Framed needlepoints of ballerinas line a wall above a piano in a sun-soaked family room at Melba Huber’s home. The art was hand-stitched by Huber’s mother Melba Stewart, who recently celebrated her 104th birthday. Photos of Melba Laurin Huber, the youngest of the three Melbas, striking perfect dancer’s poses, hang on many walls throughout the house. Music and dance have played important roles in the lives of all three women, who have been side-by-side throughout the highs and lows of life.
